Happy Accidents

Amit pointed out this real sweet yet quirky romantic comedy called Happy Accidents and was after our lives to see it. At every lunch table conversation, Happy Accidents warranted a mention.

So a couple of days back, I decided to see what the hype was all about, and then either get him to shut up or urge him to keep advertising ;)

Happy Accidents is a movie made in 2000 starring Marisa Tomei (as Ruby Weaver) and Vincent D'Onofrio (Sam Deed). Everything about the movie is quirky, right from the characters of the two protagonists to the camera angles, the picture quality (looks like a cross between home video and professional videography) and the storyline.

It's about how Ruby meets Sam on a bench in the park one fine day, and how she keeps thinking about a quick conversation she has with him about time, relationships and love. As the movie progresses, she is in a relationship with him, and the whole story unfolds through her talks with her psychiatrist. Sam claims to be from the future and is here to find her after he sees her photography in a curio store.

As the story progresses, the plot thickens to the point that if you turned over the vessel, none of it would spill out. It's a hilarious yet touching movie about love, time, relationships and fun. At every turn there is a red herring, and in the end you could open a red herring store.

It's a brilliant movie, and nothing I say or don't say can change that. All of you must watch and be enlightened by this sweet and fun film.
