Went today to the Maharashtra Mandal's Ganesh Chaturthi function. It was pretty good. It was worth the trip, though I was pretty exhausted with the activities from last night.
Loved the food, the Indian atmosphere, and the fact that I had a good bunch of friends to hang out with. Wish I could do this more often. Today I realised that one of the important reasons for having festivals is to bring everyone together to rejoice. Else when does anyone of us take out any amount of time to get together with friends and have some clean fun? Today the getting together formula is:"get together with friends = booze + loud music + people drunk + mess".
Now don't get me wrong because I do all of this too (minus the booze) and enjoy it. But then once the party's over, all thats left behind are empty glasses rolling around on the floor, which will line tomorrow's dustbin. On the other hand, the festival gatherings leave memories behind, about fun had and blessings garnered. The only exception to this that I have seen is RSF reunions and parties. We truly have a good time, booze et all (also the only time I ever drink).
Song for the moment: It ain't a party by Bryan Adams.
