On Saturday, April 2nd, 2011, India lifted the cricket world cup after 28 years!
My reaction:
My conclusion:
We kicked Sri Lanka’s ass, but they gave an awesome fight making it worthy of a final world cup match. There was enough tension in the air, and the match could have swung either way till almost the end.
The unsung heroes of the game were Jayawardane and Gambhir. Dhoni came along much later in the game and took all the credit, but had it not been for Gambhir, we would be biting dust right about now.
All in all, an awesome game! Shruti, Shabbir, Pawan, Shenaz and I were together when history was made. Un-forget-able!
It’s interesting how things roll.. I’m just insanely happy right now, I could burst..
Pairon ki bediyan khwabon ko baandhe nahi re, kabhi nahi re
Mitti ki parton ko nanne se ankur bhi cheenay, dheere dheere
Iraade hare hare, jinke seeno mein ghar kare
Woh dil ki sune kare na darre, na darre
Subah ki kirno ko rokein jo salaakhein hai kahan
Jo khayalon pe pehre daale woh aankhein hai kahan
Par khulne ki deri hai parinde udh ke jhoomenge
Aasman aasman aasman
Subah ki kirno ko rokein jo salaakhein hai kahan
Jo khayalon pe pehre daale woh aankhein hai kahan
Par khulne ki deri hai parinde udh ke jhoomenge
Aasman aasman aasman
Aazaadiyan, aazaadiyan
Aagey na kabhi, mile mile mile
Aazaadiyan, aazaadiyan
Jo cheenay wahi, jee le jee le jee le
Subah ki kirno ko rokein jo salaakhein hai kahan
Jo khayalon pe pehre daale woh aankhein hai kahan
Par khulne ki deri hai parinde udh ke jhoomenge
Aasman aasman aasman
Kahani khatam hai ya shuruwaat hone ke hai (hone ke hai)
Subha nayi hai yeh ya phir raat hone ko hai (hone ke hai)
Kahani khatam hai ya shuruwaat hone ke hai (hone ke hai)
Subha nayi hai yeh ya phir raat hone ko hai (hone ke hai)
Aane wala waqt dega panha hai
Ya phir se milenge do raahein
Khabar kya, kya pataa
Let me begin today’s post with one of the classics that got me going on alternate and classic rock. This song, Hanging By a Moment, was sung by Jason Wade at a young age of 17 years for Lifehouse. I have been their fan ever since. The song was the most requested song for the year on radiowaves and also ranked as the song of the summer in 2001. I was introduced to the song by Shereen Yusuf, an old friend.
Packing is on in full swing. We intend to be all set and ready by the weekend for the impending shift. I have taken some tough calls with books. I intend to discard books I really have no intention of reading or storing. I’m also making 2 piles, one to take with me and another to leave behind.
The current dilema is to figure out which mover/packer to use. Agarwal or Associated Cargo Packers and Movers??
I wish there was an easy answer to most things in life. More later!
The song itself is amazing, but when you apply it to an event of amazing magnitude, a wedding, it totally blows you away!
Jill and Kevin truly *brought* this song to the world… do not miss their wedding march to this amazing number.
I have to give full credit to their band of friends and family who actually agreed to participating in the march/dance/whatever!!
Various comments on blogs and in youtube have trashed the celebration by stating that this is an insult of God [the march is in a church], but I personally feel that a celebration is a celebration, and God only joins in!

The song actually drove up sales for Chris Brown’s hit single Forever!!
Some lyrics I loved from the song:
Feels like we’re on another level
Feels like our loves intertwined,
We can be two rebels breaking the rules
me and you, you and I
All you got to do is watch me
Look what I can do with my feet
Baby feel the beat inside,
I’m driving you can take the front seat
Just need you to trust me
- Forever by Chris Brown
I’ve been running down the road trying to losen my load I have seven women on my mind… [okay just the lyrics going through my head from Eagle's Take it easy, the title of this post].
Today was a long day, and tiring inspite of being not too tiring. Work is good and rewarding, but quite hectic these days. Hopefully I’ll get used to it soon.
That aside, not much happening. I have a multitude of plans in my head, of what I want to do, but I’m waiting for Shruti to come back before I can execute them! Catch 22, huh?
All said and done, things are going well. More tomorrow!
I had always respected Lance Armstrong for his Livestrong Foundation, and was an ardent supporter always sporting a livestrong band. I knew it was about cancer and that Lance himself was as survivor, but I didn’t know much else.
I chanced upon his book while waiting at the MG Road Barista one night. I picked up the book thinking I’d flip a couple of pages while I wait the few minutes I needed to wait.
Lucky for me I ended up waiting for an hour or so, and read 25% of the book.
Lance writes it in a really gripping manner without using fancy words to cover up for his masochism, arrogance as well as fear.
The narrative is straightforward and chronological for the most part, beginning with his childhood and rise to fame at an early age, following through with his diagnosis of cancer and the tough road to getting well, and ends with a fairly detailed account of him winning the Tour de France in 1999.
What did help Lance in his journey through life were his awesome physical attributes that included low lactic acid levels (which mean less pain and faster recovery from physical exertion) as well as his high VO2 (lung capacity). He does mention that a lot of this is luck and good genes, hence he cannot take full credit for his wins or his recovery
This book will easily fill any male’s hero void, and is inspiring beyond words. It makes you want to go out there and make a difference. I don’t intend to be sexist, but I think this is one story the guys will understand at a completely different level than the girls.. maybe because it deals with testicular cancer and fear (something that supposedly doesn’t exist in a male’s dictionary) in a blatant and in-your-face manner.
Do go out and read it. It’s a page turner and totally inspiring! And yes, do support a cause, any cause as long as you believe in it.

So I got engaged.. I mean formally, with ring et al. Our engagements don’t really have rings, in fact the bridegroom isn’t even supposed to be around at the engagement! I gate crashed and we exchanged rings at the end of the so called bridegroom-less engagement
All said and done it was a great event, and I have a ring with a huge rock in it. I had wished for a gold band as that is more comfortable, but it didn’t work out that way for me.
Shruti was looking gorgeous, and I’ll try and get pictures from the photographer who did the shoot. I wasn’t allowed to take my camera with me on such an auspicious day
Looking forward to the wedding and wedding-related festivities that begin next week
India won the final against Pakistan in the Twenty20 World Cup, sending them packing home with their tail(s) between their legs. A couple of us had left work early to catch the match from the beginning, and boy was it worth it!
The Pakis did a good job in restricting us to 157 in 20 overs, but we still got the better of them. It was a nail-biting finish that all of us will remember for some time to come!!
What did suck was Shoaib Malik’s statement right after the match that went, “I would like to start by saying to the people of Pakistan and all the Muslims in the world, that were are sorry we lost”. What was lost on me was why make this about religion, when it is about sport and country? We won, you lost, so bug off!
