Of planes, trains and automobiles

So today was a fulfilling day. Went through three meetings, and came away with a headache the size of Madhya Pradesh (am back in India, so why not use our own states?)! Then went on to meet my sister to clear somethings up, and came away with the realization that she is so lost in her fiance that she feels anyone else is of no importance. I have thus decided to let her go. Let’s see how well that works.

I guess you win some, you lose some.

I leave you with a line from ‘The Princess Bride’: “Life is pain, your highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something!” (how very true).

One love!

Recap:

So me and my brother came over last night to stay at my place (the night before I was at my uncle’s place). He is still fast asleep, and here I am blogging.

So yesterday was fun. I spent half the day finishing Mark Haddon’s book (see my previous post, titled Reading Again). I sat at Barista accomplishing the same.

Then me, Rahul and my uncle went to barter for my Refridgerator and Microwave. Got a good deal and will get them delivered today.

Later we went home, had dinner and then came over to my place.

Barista:

So Barista is this fantastic coffee serving chain in India, not unlike Starbucks, only better (read up ca_va_sans_dire and Jaro). Why? Because we Indians like to indulge in pleasures of the senses (in this case I’m referring to the senses of taste and smell)!

And the best part being, we actually get the yummiest choclate cakes served with ice cream this side of the Atlantic. Okay, any side of the Atlantic. The coffees are fantastic too. Not overdone nor making any claims of being fat free or something.

The both of you have to come down to have them! :)

Reading again

So I finally finished ‘The curious incident of the dog in the night time’ by Mark Haddon. Simply fantastic. I have no better words to describe it. If any of you liked ‘Catcher in the Rye’ even on the edge, you will love this book. I am floored by the innovative insight the author brings to a 15 year old eccentric child.

Very quirky yet mind blowing! You really begin to imagine and live out the life of the behavioural problem prone 15 year old protagonish, Christopher Boone.

Read Mark Haddon’s Interview and also get an insight into his literary style.

I sat at Barista, and finished the book in 1.5 hours (had read half of it previously).

Another cup of coffee

Home Front:

For once things are all falling into place, and I can happily say I have a semi-functional house. This includes the following:

A gas stove for cooking, a cylinder full of gas to go with it *grin*, full range of crockery and cutlery, a geyser to have a hot water shower, 3 mattresses for me and friends, and all that jazz.

Coming this weekend or the first thing next week:

A refrigerator, a microwave, curtains, rods for my almirah, and all that jazz.

Work:

All’s going well on the work front, and seems like I might be seeing the US of A sooner than I thought. But let me not get my hopes up, and let’s see how things go. If it works out, I will surely take a small holiday (allowed) and go to Atlanta (and Chattanooga of course).

Coffee:

Today I made the first coffee in my new bachelor pads. Expect pictures soon, of the place as well as me as well as Pune as well as some interesting subjects ;) .
