The weekend was fun, with a trip to Mumbai (drove myself up and down in my Alto) and some good times with cousins. The drive itself was okay, considering I had some really good loud music to keep me company on the drive down.
Mom had her cataract operation about 10 days ago, and had caught a viral fever right after. We were all on high alert as she is prone to asthmatic attacks when unwell. She pulled through and was well within 2 days, and there was relief all over. The doctors said that the humidity levels in Mumbai might accentuate her asthma and so I went over immediately to bring them both to Pune.
An old friend set me up on facebook and have been having fun since. It’s a fairly interesting place to be
For some reason the site also re-ignited my love for photography. I shall be posting a lot more of those on there soon.
All this aside, a lot has been happening of late. I have been reading a lot of books, literature, management material, as well as core competence stuff. I want to break free!

.. I took my camera out for an outing of it’s own. Results in a day or two, as my hands are badly scrapped from a bike accident and I really can’t do much with them right now.
Though my creative drive has literally come to a standstill. I will try and take out my camera a little more from now on. It’s like I want to, but I don’t know where to being, though I’m very comfortable with the idea.
I walked across an empty land,
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand.
I felt the earth beneath my feet,
Sat by the river and it made me complete.
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I’m getting old and I need something to rely on.
So tell me when you’re gonna let me in,
I’m getting tired and I need somewhere to begin.

Man today has been a long day even before it started. Actually I was cooking last night and ended up eating only at around 10:30 which sucks because I started cooking at 9:00. The reason was that my Microwave hadn’t been set up yet and hence I ended up multitasking on 3 stoves, cooking rice, potato curry and daal!
The food was damned good though, I must say. You guys should try making aloo ki sabzi with tobasco sauce instead of chilli powder. Tastes like heaven. If anyone wants the recipe, do let me know. It’s not perfect, but it does the job.
Anyways, so I ended up sleeping at 12:00 and had a conference call with the US office at 9:00 in the morning. I managed to get in only to figure out that it wasn’t happening. Sucks ass!
Apart from that work is coming along well, and I intend to get a lot done over the weekend.
All said and done, here are some pictures I took yesterday from work: cubicle, wet roads and a river

The rain is working wonders on my mood. I feel alive, something I haven’t felt in a while though I’m in Pune and enjoying life per se.
Was to meet Rohan Dsa and catch up on how things are as well as review some Mithun movies (hehehehe). But since the rains are still going strong, my aunt has asked me to come back to her place and not go home ( I live near the river, and it just might flood). Maybe Hemir will also come this weekend, and then we will have a blast.
Man am missing Atlanta and GATech, thanks to Nammy. She called today morning, and we spoke for all of 4 minutes. But it was enough (for now… so don’t stop calling, Nammy *wink*). I was singing “Dil dooba, dil dooba, teri akhon mein meri mehbooba..” (translates to “I lost my heart as it drowned in your beautiful eyes“) after the call *wicked grin*. Nammy is leaving Atlanta and moving to Chicago for good. Now I will have to rope in Chicago on my visit to the US. New places, more fun!
That apart, today has been a long day. My uncle’s house in Mumbai (which was under very heavy rain for two days) was under 5 feet of water, and he lost almost everything he owned. He was close to tears on the phone. He is 60 years old, and an ex-army man. I’m glad everyone is safe though. And I’m proud of him, because though it took him 8 hours to walk from Santacruz to Andheri (usually a 10 minute ride), he did it without a hitch and also managed to save two children from being sucked into an open man hole (while being in 4 feet of water) and almost lost his own life in the process. He personifies courage in my eyes.
I too had a small loss in the incident, losing all my collected books which I had kept at his house. Hopefully one day I shall manage to get them all back one by one. But that’s a story for another day.
All in all I’m exhausted, both physically and mentally.

Today was amazing. It started with me getting a nice wake up call from Deepa at 8:00 in the morning, and we discussing the craziest of things including plunging… oh forget it. I don’t want to get into all that right now
Then I got cracking on trying to get to work on time (9:00 a.m.). Alas, it was not to be. I walk out of the flat to realise that it’s pouring cows and buffalos, and not a single rickshaw (a three wheeled taxi) was willing to take me to work! I waited for half an hour in the rain and got drenched to the bone. Finally out of desperation, I called up a colleague who promised to come get me.
We had no idea what we were in for, and actually took a multitude of roads in the hope that we would reach the office. But all the roads were flooded, and it was getting worse by the minute. A fifteen minute ride took us an hour and a half to make!
So we get to work around 11:30, and at 3:00 a warning is issued that there is a chance of flood! The offices were to be vacated and people were asked to go home. We got back home around 4:20.
And since then have been doing some really stupid things, which I will enlighten you about in the next post.
As Jess (ca_va_sans_dire), Jaro and others might be curious, I am putting up a photograph here, and will take some more tomorrow.

Diwali Lantern
Diwali is a very well celebrated festival in India, and my zealous neighbours made a lantern to put over their bulb outside and I felt so nostalgic and proud, that I simply had to take the picture. You may read more about Diwali here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diwali |

I hope to this my one stop page for my photographs (both personal and professional) so as to make it easier to share them with family, friends and critics. But I will still continue to use my daily journal ffor everyday rants and raves.
Also hope to make loads of friends here from the photography community (or not) to share my work with and get feedback from.
WIll start posting pictures as soon as I get the chance!
